Brand lab
A 5-week brand strategy cohort for early-stage femtech founders

LEARN TO BRAND YOUR COMPANY
ALONGSIDE FOUNDERS DOING THE SAME
You built the company, and you probably built the brand too. You chose a logo, picked a few colors, chose fonts that looked right, and built everything else one piece at a time. It worked, and it got you here. What is harder now is that the company has moved on, and the brand still looks like the sum of decisions made in a hurry.
The Brand Lab teaches you how to brand your company yourself. Over five weeks, a small group of early-stage founders in women’s health work side by side through guided workshops, hands-on exercises, and open conversation. Led by Kimberly Gilroy, the sessions explain the reasoning behind each visual decision, then give you room to make that decision for your own company.
By the end, you have a visual system that holds together: a color palette, a typeface pairing, a logo you have tested against clear criteria, and a brand board that becomes the reference point every time you create something new.
What You’ll Walk Away With
Each week focuses on one piece of the visual brand, moving it from unfinished to complete. Guided teaching and exercises between sessions build momentum, and the group reviews what you made at the start of each week. By Week 5, the brand board is in hand, already applied to a live touchpoint.
A complete
brand board
Your visual direction, color palette, typography, and photography style, all on a single page. This is your go-to reference every time you create something new.
YOUR BRAND ON SOMETHING REAL
Before the five weeks are up, you’ll put your new system to work on a real part of your business—like a pitch deck slide, a homepage section, or a social post.
A BRIEF FOR YOUR NEXT DESIGNER
You’ll walk away with a Brand Brief template and a logo brief if you need a new one. These are the tools you’ll hand off to a designer when you’re ready to take the next step.
A community of fellow founders
Five weeks spent alongside fellow women’s health founders, building your brands together in the margins of your busy days, and supporting each other with feedback at every turn.
This cohort is designed
for founders who:
- are working in women’s health and want support with branding
- are making their own brand assets and want them to look deliberate
- have a logo, colors, and fonts that grew piece by piece over a couple of years
- are preparing to launch or to raise
- are weighing a rebrand
- want to stop starting from a blank page every time they make something
- do their best thinking alongside other people

CO-FOUNDER & BRAND STRATEGY @ ALFA CHARLIE
Kimberly Gilroy is the co-founder of Alfa Charlie, a brand strategy and creative agency in San Diego specializing in femtech and women’s health.
This course came out of watching the same thing happen again and again: founders with sharp thinking about their market and a brand assembled between funding calls at eleven at night. It takes the decisions that get made inside a full brand engagement and teaches them to the founder directly, so she can make them herself, using the tools she already has.
She came to women’s health because she wanted the work to matter. She has spent the years since helping founders make sure the way their company is understood matches what it actually does.
Questions & Answers
No. You don't need design experience or a natural eye for design. We'll break the decisions down into a process you can follow.
No. If you have one, you'll learn how to evaluate it. If you don't, you'll create a clear brief for a designer to use later. Logo design itself is not included.
You'll establish every element of your visual system during the five weeks: your visual direction, colors, typography, logo direction, photography, supporting elements, and how they work together.
Yes. The goal is to give you a system you can immediately use in Canva. You'll also apply it to one real piece of your business before the course ends.
This is exactly for that. You'll learn how to make your own brand decisions while you're still bootstrapping, then have a much stronger foundation when you're ready to hire a designer.
That's fine. You'll learn how to understand what is working, what isn't, and how to make your visual choices more intentional.
Every founder leaves with a brand that looks different from the others. What they share is a visual system that fits the company it belongs to.
Your brand is already communicating something to customers, partners, investors, and everyone else encountering your company. You don't need a huge budget to start making those signals more intentional.
